Daily Rules from God for 2012

1. Wake Up!!
Decide to have a good day. "Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."Psalms 118:24

2.
Dress Up!! The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart."I Samuel 16:7

3.Shut Up!!
Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. "He who guards his lips guards his soul."Proverbs 13:3

4. Stand Up!!...
For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.. "Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good..."Galatians 6:9-10

5.Look Up!!...
To the Lord.
"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me."
Phillippians 4:13

6.Reach Up!!...
For something higher. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, And He will direct your path."
Proverbs 3:5-6

7.Lift Up!!...
Your Prayers.
"Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING."

Philippians 4:6

This is from my wonderful Life Coach, British Hill

Let's have a collective exercise today. Today...I want you to be very conscious of the energy you put around your thoughts and actions. Pay close attention to the "feelings" you have when you are thinking about (or talking about) your business, your work place, the people around you, your $ or lack of...etc. In other words, what you think about and focus on most often, you attract. So, starting right now, make it a point to catch yourself when you are having negative thoughts about ANYTHING today! Immediately turn it around and think it, say it, do it in a way that supports what you DO want! Not what you don't. If you want things to improve for the better, believe and claim that it will...and because it's so bad now, there is so much opportunity for it to get better and be a blessing to more people. I know for a fact that this exercise will unblock your blessings. I use it often and I try to apply it as much as possible. Try it all day today...and let me know how it goes"-)

You Are No Different

YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT
by Bob Perks

Earlier this evening I was inspired by this thought as I listened to a minister speak at the annual Red Cross dinner my wife and I attended. As usual I made a few quick notes to keep the thought alive and help me to remember exactly what I wanted to share with you. I tucked it away in my suit jacket with plans to write this "tomorrow sometime."
I was driven out of bed. It's 12:23 a.m.

Picture in your mind the most incredible thing designed by mankind that you have ever seen. Perhaps the Empire State Building, the Shuttle built by the technicians at NASA, The Golden Gate Bridge or even the intricate detailing in a painting you've seen.
What name comes to mind when I say the words "creative genius?"
Who do you think of when I mention God-like compassion, caring and loving?
What author's name do you think of when I mention "poetry," "drama," "mystery," "fiction," and "comedy?"

What do you see when I say "strength," and "stamina?"

Finally "winner," "successful," or "role model?"

I'll bet you a Kids Meal at McDonald's you never saw yourself in any of those images. And yet...
Look at your hands. Are they not the same as the hands of the skillful artist, architect, mason, or technician?

If you were to x-ray your skull, would you not find the same brain matter that takes up the space between the ears of Einstein, Plato, and Disney?

Hold your hand to your chest. Can you feel the beat of a heart capable of paining for the homeless and starving? Have you not the same heart that beat in the chest of Jesus, Gandhi, Mohamed or the thousands of missionaries around the world?

Look at your fingers. Are they not like the fingers of Frost, Churchill, Stevens, Wilder and King that held tightly the pens that wrote the words that shaped the world?

Look at your feet. Show me the difference between yours and gold medalists of the Olympics or the rescuers who carried the people out of the rubble in Taiwan's tragic earthquake.
Finally. Close your eyes as you stand in front of a mirror and picture in your mind that man or woman who you think of as a success, a winner and role model. Open your eyes and explain to me the difference between you and that person.

There is no difference...except in how you perceive yourself.

You have the mind, the hands, the feet, the fingers, the heart to be exactly what you want to be.

The only thing that is stopping you is the person you see in the mirror.
You have all that it takes.

It's 1:18 A.M. I can sleep now. The rest is up to you.

An excerpt from Stress is a Choice by David Zerfoss

For the Month of June in my Group Coaching, the topic was Less is More and how we go after stuff, but does it really contribute to our happiness. If you lost everything, what things would you not replace. I ran across this excerpt by David Zerfoss, which is so aligned with "Less is More." I hope that you enjoy it.

Several years ago while listening to my pastor give a Sunday sermon, he spoke about how life is made up of a series of choices. It made me realize that my hectic professional and personal life was of my choosing. Therefore, a life of stress had become my choice.

Many of us hurry through life going from one place to the next, focused on conquering the next mountain, making the next deal, running the next errand, and believing we will never have enough time to do all the things we need to get done. Yet, there is all the time in the world if we just realize that we are the creators of this life we choose to live. That's right. Life is a series of choices and being free from stress is one of those choices.

Whether your business life is overly complicated or your personal life (or both), you have chosen this current system of chaos. The world is a tantalizing swirl of getting the next "fix," tempting us to fit more and more things, people and processes into our lives, personally and professionally. And because we are so busy being busy, it's easy to be lured into the fray, with our lengthy to-do lists. Yet, the greatest achievements have often come from the simplest of ideas and in the simplest forms.

To experience a simplified life, we first have to learn to slow down long enough to see through all the clutter. We need to realize that we are powerful magnets that attracted this life to ourselves - no matter what - good or bad.

After you read through the 10 Rules to Simplify Your Life, my wish for you is that you commit to simplify and enroll others for support. Take out a blank sheet of paper and create the life you truly want to live - with less stress and complexity - one that is anchored by a clear sense of your unique and simple purpose.

Be Thankful

The last few weeks have been amazing. As I look around today, I am so GRATEFUL  for what God has blessed me to do and to have. I know that God has a plan for me and it is clearer than ever. I have become very peaceful within, even though, things in my life right now are very challenging. I'm not a bit worried because I TRUST and BELIEVE that when I DO what I can, GOD WILL DO what I cannot.

I found this poem this morning that talks to what I am feeling in my heart.

“Be Thankful”
By Unknown

“Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach
you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary,
because it means you’ve made a difference.

It’s easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.

Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.”

Many Blessings as you go through your life today.

Our Greatest Fear —Marianne Williamson

Our Greatest Fear —Marianne Williamson

it is our light not our darkness that most frightens us

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of
God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.

—Marianne Williamson

Lets Pray Quickly

I received this prayer from a co-worker today and I am sharing it with you

Lets Pray Quickly

Father in the name of Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God, I pray you open doors for the person who sent me this as well as those I am sending it to. Only you can open doors no man can close and for that we honor you today. Thank you for the open doors of life, health, strength, prosperity, wealth, and love. Also, thank you for closing the doors of death, sickness, weakness, despair, poverty, and bitterness. We love you today Lord and give you all the glory and all the praise. I seal this prayer in Jesus name, Amen!!!

If you need God to open a door, pray this prayer. Believe in your heart and you shall receive what God has for you.

Another Fabulous Weekend

Another one of my home girls, friends for over 20 years,  visited on Saturday and we had a blast. We didn't drink a whole bottle of Chardonnay, but we laughed and had fun updating her website. I prepared a vegetarian meal, which she enjoyed. What a wonderful afternoon.

Church was very inspiring as always. For the last month or so, the topic has been about The Peace Church. Today's service was so on time with my last coaching Reacting vs Responding and a training class with Lynn Richardson called the "Divine Collaboration..". Ephesian 4. What I took away today "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling..." (Ephesian 4:4) As I move through my life, I will NOT give the Devil a place. I WILL edify the body of Christ because there is only One LORD, one faith, and one baptism. I WILL allow the LORD to work on me and through me. I WILL let GOD's Light shine through me to inspire and empower the people who I come in contact with because we are all CONNECTED.

An Evening With My Home Girl

Yesterday, my long time friend of 40 years visited me along with her fiance.  I cooked a nice meal and the fellows watched movies while we updated her resume and went over some computer tips. What a wonderful evening. We got the resume all updated and done. We surfed for cruise ship career opportunities. We drank a whole bottle of Chardonnay. Laughed until our stomachs started to hurt. Acted silly at times. Brainstormed on some business ideals. Mapped out some business plans. Hugged each other in appreciation. What a wonderful evening. Having a friend since grade school is truly a blessing. So many people have come and gone in my life, but to know that I have that one person in my life that if I say to her we are going to the moon tonight, her response would be, " what time and what are you going to wear?" I truly Love and respect her and am grateful that we chose each other to travel with in life.

In fact, I am grateful to have several long time relationships with people that I grew up with or met on previous jobs. Some of which we talk frequently and others every now and then just to make sure the other is ok.

Do you have a friend like that?

Reacting vs Responding

Coaching calls this month has been on Reacting vs Responding.
This has really brought my awareness level up around this subject. Reacting is uncontrolled, stressful, and does not provide solutions. Responding has a thought process. Responding provides solutions.
I am guilty of reacting, especially within my family. When my son get's a bad grade, I blow up. What I've learned from this coaching is that behavior makes me angry, my son angry, and nothing is resolved.

I have changed my approach and now my son and I are actually talking about steps to improve his grades. It is a two-way conversation, instead of me dictating what I want him to do.  I honor him when he makes the small steps that will help him to achieve his goals in getting better grades.  I am learning to embrace his individuality and encouraging him to find what works for him in achieving his goals.

I'm feeling better and so is he.

The PeaceMaking Church

On Tuesday evening, March 11, I attended the first of a 7 week small group presented by my church and the topic was The Peace Making Church written by . The focus of this class was the 4 G's: God-centered response to conflict. When conflict comes into our lives:

Glorify God (1 Cor. 10:31)- Think about what would be pleasing and honorable to God before your speak

Get the log out of your eye (Matt 7:5) Taking responsibility for your part of the conflict with Jesus' work in your mind.

Gently restore (Gal. 6:1 - Help others to take responsibility of their contribution of the conflict  in a loving way.

Go and be reconciled (Matt 5:24) - Work out a reasonable solution demonstrating God's forgiveness.

The hostess of this study group was the most bravest woman I have ever met. She revealed things about her life that I don't know if I would have told anyone about. Her ability to share was a very courageous act and showed that God had truly helped her to move her life into purpose. She was a true testimony of the power of faith.

Direct Sales Success Refresh

It's a week later and I am still feeling this event. On March 4, 5, and 6th, I attended a virtual educational event put together by my Compass sister, British Hill, who is a fabulous person. This was one of the best events that I have attended in some time. Especially because it was all done in my pajamas.

On the 4th was the Mixer. We got to meet many of the ladies attending the event. We were placed in breakouts throughout the evening so that we could get to know everyone. There were women from all around the country. What a party.

Associated Women Board Meeting

Today at work, professional staff was invited to the Associated Women Board Meeting. The guest speaker was Dr. Erica Brown who is writer and educator who works as the scholar-in-residence for the Jewish Federaton of Greater Washington, as well as consults for the Jewish Agency and other Jewish non-profits.

Dr. Brown talked about Women in Leadership. Her focus was on the women in Judges 4 where God gave Deborah leadership to go into Mount Tabor to kill Sisera, but Jael ended up killing him.

Dr. Brown also stated when we uplift someone else, we are also uplifted.

She left us with:

Say something nice to 10 people and observe how that makes you feel.

I love my Compass life more and more everyday.

Recognizing Opportunity

I went to a Meetup hosted by Life Coach Christina Watson at Barnes and Nobles in Towson, MD yesterday. I am so glad that I did. The topic was very much aligned with my life. She outlined the steps in achieving your goals, which were:  Knowing where you are and where you are going. We are spiritual beings in a physical body. Everyone has guidance within. I learned that the word Desire means of the Father. I always thought of Desire as meaning, "wanting something or longing for something". So, being the person that I am, I looked up the word and yes it does mean that, but the word SIRE means Father, Author, Originator, according to Webster, For me, that said that God made everyone of us to desire success in our lives. Of course success is different for everyone. In essence:

Dreaming is the beginning
Deciding that you will commit to bringing the dream to life
Look at all of the opportunities that come your way and decide whether or not it will take you in the direction of your goal.
Does it align with your beliefs and morals?
Will you be able to achieve this goal without stepping on any one's toes?

Working my Business Today

I am starting to get angry because I'm not where I thought I would be by this time with my business. They say when you get angry that's when change happens.  I talked to my Business Buddy and she stated the following:

Ida,
A goal properly set is halfway reached.  The fact that you set the wheels in motion and scheduled time to make calls means today is the day!  It will happen for you.  Start dialing girl.... and let me hear some fun call results.   Remember... Smiles can be felt over the phone  so smile and remember you are talking to friends you just haven't met yet.

Ring Ring = Win Win!

I love my Compass life! Thank you, Jodie :) I dialed 50 numbers today. Woo Hoo!
